For more than fifteen years, Erin Rantas has devoted her practice to the litigation and mediation of Family Law matters in New Jersey. Erin’s family law practice is strengthened by the skills and experience she gathered during prior years litigating complex matters in Manhattan. Erin is a qualified New Jersey Family Law Mediator. Erin is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association, in both the Family Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution Sections. She is also admitted to practice law in New York and is a member of the New York Bar Association, in the Family Law Section.
From 2007-2014 Erin was selected for inclusion on the list of “New Jersey Rising Stars” in the Family Law section. From 2015-2018, Erin was selected for inclusion on the list of “Super Lawyers” in the Family Law section. In 2015, Erin was recognized by NJ Biz for her proficiency of practice and success in business when she was included in their list of “Forty Under 40” which honors professionals who have been making headlines in their field and who share a commitment to business growth, professional excellence and the community.
Whether in a court room, a conference room or at the Appellate level, Erin skillfully and thoughtfully represents clients at all stages of their family law matters. Erin assesses each client’s unique goals before developing and implementing tailored and strategic approaches to the resolution of individual matters. Erin’s approach involves, where necessary, the engagement of forensic accountants; mental health professionals; best interest custody evaluators; experts in executive compensation; and alcohol/drug evaluators. Erin’s attention to detail; her uncompromising work ethic; an insistence upon economic efficiency; and her commitment to cater to each client’s specific needs are some of the qualities that set her apart from other family law attorneys.
Erin is on the Board of the Friends of The Frelinghuysen Arboretum located in Morris Township, currently serving as Treasurer. She is a Board Member of Morristown’s Children on the Green, whose mission supports the developmental needs of children and creates interdependent partnerships between home, work and community. In 2017, Erin became a member of Executive Women of New Jersey, the leading senior-level executive women’s organization in New Jersey. Erin is a former Early Settlement Panelist in Bergen and Morris Counties as well as a past-volunteer at the County College of Morris Women’s Center Legal Clinic, where for years she offered seminars and provided detailed family law consultations, at no cost to the participants.
Prior to co-founding Lazor Rantas, PC, Erin was a partner in the Family Law groups of Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti, LLP and Sills Cummis & Gross, PC. Erin completed a rigorous week-long trial academy conducted by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. Erin earned her JD from Union University’s Albany Law School in 2001, during which time she worked in the scheduling and press departments of former New York Governor, George Pataki. Erin graduated from Siena College in 1998 with honors in Sociology and had the privilege of being selected to present her senior thesis, “Volunteerism Among College Students”, at the Eastern Sociological Society’s annual meeting/convention.
Erin lives in Morris County with her Husband, Tom, and their three young daughters.
